Team

NeCEN is a national cryo-electron microscopy facility operating at Leiden University and Utrecht University. The facility brings together scientists and technical experts with different roles and expertise, working across both locations.

The scientific leadership of the national cryo-EM activities is coordinated through the Cryo-EM Directorate of EMPOWER, consisting of Meindert Lamers, Friedrich Förster, Stuart Howes, Ludo Renault and Dirk Slotboom.

NeCEN is supported by dedicated staff and scientists at both locations, as well as by colleagues from the Utrecht University Electron Microscopy Centre who contribute to NeCEN activities alongside their other responsibilities. Team members have different roles and appointments within their respective universities.

NeCEN also works closely with research groups at Leiden University, Utrecht University, Leiden University Medical Center and other research institutions across The Netherlands.
