The Centre

With the Netherlands Centre for Nanoscopy, a strong consortium of nanoscopy and life sciences experts from industry and academia intends to create a facility based on a powerful combination of three different types of cryo-transmission electron microscopes designed specifically to explore the complex structures inside cells at a hitherto unknown level of detail.

The basic infrastructure of NeCEN will be based on the innovative Titan platform and will be under development continuously to keep it at a world wide state-of-the-art level. ?NeCEN responds to needs expressed on the national and European level to develop 3D nano-imaging capabilities. The consortium has the expertise and track record to realize the facility and make it a vibrant multidisciplinary community attracting scientists from all over the world as well as much industrial interest. Spin-off activities are to be expected. The consortium will also put in place dedicated training programmes related to electron microscopy, an area where the Netherlands traditionally has been leading.
